Welcome to Juno Download, a digital download store that boasts a staggeringly wide selection of songs, instrumentals and tools for DJs, electronic musicians and listeners alike. This was the only album released when he was alive and it just proves that he would have gone on to become one of the greatest rappers alive. Thankfully, it wasn’t all braggadocio in hip hop in the mid-Nineties. Los Angeles four-piece The Pharcyde followed their mesmeric debut, Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde, with another lesson in irreverent sonic adventure. The jazzy, soporific vibes of Runnin’ recalled kindred spirits A Tribe Called Quest, while the inventive Drop displayed a steely experimental edge.
His company’s current managed roster comprises of Skinny Living and Face. Ireland-born, West London-raised Coex sits within the Electronic musical landscape, stemming from his teenage years which were spent playing the piano and acoustic instruments. Emerging onto the London indie scene as a drummer aged 15, Coex played across various backstreet under-filled London venues where he was forced to lie about his age. Basing his sonics on his mood, he takes external influences from ambient, punk, grunge and avant garde styles. Initially music and songwriting was a form of therapy but has now transitioned into something entirely new after discovering how synths can be used to open a whole new world of expression.

In terms of sonics, Dre’s early sound heavily incorporated synths and electronics. The Akai MPC3000 drum machine and sampler has been a mainstay in his toolbox. Dr. Dre’s sound has continuously evolved, taking a more soulful direction in recent years.
Try and reduce the number of ‘starts’ or rather cue files. The amount of prep that goes into making each cue file and the time it takes to load in effect the time you can spend at every stage of production. Christian has made a film about tracklaying that shows how to prepare materials for the above in both Logic and Pro Tools. You don’t have to be working in the former, it is the basic principles that are important. There are two key factors to the successful delivery of a master to the dub.

Collaborating with 22 Void Beats, Kazu is best known for the song “Chapel”, a dark and brooding collaboration piece that features some sound effects that aren’t typically found in trap music. Since trap music burst onto the scene in the early 2000’s, it’s made an undeniable impact over the course of its short history. If you’re looking to dig in T.I’s music, his 2006 album King is a fan favourite. However, his 2003 album Trap Muzik was a seminal record in the genre, and arguably stands as his definitive work. The mumble rap label has not prevented him from reaching critical acclaim, thanks to his experimental production, swagger, and playful energy.
This is a song that falls victim to I like it when you sleep…’s poor sequencing – plonking it next to one of the other ambient soundscapes on the album leaves the listener feeling restless. When listened to in isolation though, the swelling, shoegazey track can stir something in you. That this is the weakest track on the band’s sophomore album just goes to show how strong the record’s 17 songs really are. 2018’s A Brief Inquiry… is arguably the 1975’s tightest and strongest album, so this song – a meandering account of Healy’s time in rehab – sticks out like a sore thumb. Next to the God-tier tracks elsewhere on the album, it sounds a little flimsy and forgettable.
We gloried in it all, and it helped us through the following reclosings until we finally had an album, and some music and song that we wanted to share with the world. I’ve evolved a lot in my production processes during the past few months but I’ve never had any hardware material, because of the money I guess and also because of my lack of technical knowledge, I’ve always been a software guy. Still, using the same FL copy and beside of the few VSTs I’ve downloaded here and there, everything is pretty simple – I don’t even own a pair of monitors yet . I used to be a lot into soft synths when I was making sort of more mid-range bass oriented tunes but at the moment I’m definitely more into actual sounds. I’m now using almost only samples that I have fun playing around with and adjusting as I want. Resampling has became a major part of the way I build tunes.

Wearing a yellow hoodie and purple bandana, a 19-year-old Digga was dancing in front of the camera, weaving between metal hobs, buckets of cooking spices and freezers lined with samosas and kulfi sticks. He peered down a firelighter at the camera alien as if aiming a sniper rifle. It was the bank holiday on which, under pre-Covid circumstances, Notting Hill Carnival would have decorated the streets of the 21-year-old’s native West London with colourful feathers, flavours and flair.
The lyrics are part of the concept of the album, The Wall, and are about an embittered and alienated rockstar who is being medicated in order to perform at a show, inspired by Waters’ experience during a Pink Floyd show in 1977. It has a tempo of 148bpm and is in the key of Db major. It features DNCE, with their singer Joe Jonas singing the song. It is an energetic and upbeat pop song with disco and rock elements and has been certified platinum.

The line ‘I believe that the heart does go on’ is often replaced with ‘I believe that the hot dogs go on.’ We don’t know about you, but all these food references are making us salivate. The Cars’ Drive is the band’s highest-charting US single and second highest-charting single in the UK. The song was re-released a year later after Live Aid and gained a higher position in the UK singles chart.
A familiar narrative has emerged out of Ukraine recently, as a new generation of Europe-facing creatives, promoters and artists – buoyed by youth-led revolutionary movements – has established its own sense of identity. As usual, this cultural revolution has played out not in the political arena, but across the country’s underground spaces, studios and nightclubs. As residents of Closer, the most established of Kiev’s clubs, Noizar & Borys are at the heart of this underground cultural groundswell. Their b2b DJ sets – which shape-shift between acid, trippy minimalism and heads down techno – channel the energy and freedom of young Ukraine. Factory Festival was the talk of the festival, well, among the foreign journalists.
So instead of being a 21 year old guy trying to make it and being stuck, I was uploading tons of tracks from the ages of 9-13 until I started the Sex Whales thing, and nobody gave a shit. Seventeen days after I meet Sampa Tembo – the woman behind that brilliant, elevating stage name Sampa the Great – she is on the Park Stage at Glastonbury. Sampa has been a hugely successful hip-hop artist since 2015; her music contains elements of spoken word, soul, jazz, gospel and reggae. Her stomping anthem “Final Form”, from her breakthrough album, The Return, is still a staple on Radio 6 Music’s playlists despite having been released three years ago.

“I’m hoping for another Champions League spot”, says Nines of the new album, a reference to football and the top 4 qualifying positions in the Premier League, “I’m coming for the top four definitely”. Relaxed, confident and making the best music of his career so far, there’s every chance he’ll go one better. Lauded for his gritty, lived-in narratives and laid back, near-horizontal, conversational flow, Nines’ mixtapes immediately stood out from those of his contemporaries; he was clearly a natural, special talent. His big break came might have come by way of 2017 debut album, ‘One Foot Out’, which peaked at 4 on the UK Album Charts on its release, but Nines’ impact could be felt across London and beyond many years before. Inspired by elders who used to rap on the estate, as well as the early grime crews of his childhood like So Solid Crew and Pay As U Go, his relationship with wider rap cultures was first brokered when he was only 10 years old.
Influenced by jazz, hip-hop, world music and various dance scenes, she has previously performed with Boy Blue Entertainment and Zoonation at the renowned Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall as a dancer and musician. Her sound explores art as a means of catharsis, an intention manifested through her broken yet tender movement reflecting both fierceness and vulnerability. After graduating with a Degree in Media & Psychology Janelle began interning at ILUVLIVE, a live music events company showcasing the best of emerging homegrown talent around the UK. Previous acts include the likes of Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Ella Mai, Chip, Emeli Sande.
